Compared to its closest analog EBFP2, TagBFP, which shows bright blue fluorescence, is more than 1.8 times brighter, much more pH-stable and has twice a shorter maturation half-time at 37°C. The narrow fluorescence emission peak of TagBFP provides for accurate and easy spectral separation with cyan and green fluorescent proteins and makes it the preferred tag for multicolor labelling. Large Foster distance for the pair TagBFP and TagGFP makes it one of the best among available FRET pairs comprising monomeric fluorescent proteins.
The pTagBFP-C Expression Vector is a mammalian expression vector encoding blue fluorescent protein TagBFP.

pTagBFP-C can be transfected into mammalian cells by any known transfection method. CMV promoter provides strong, constitutive expression of TagBFP or its fusions in many cell types. If required, stable transformants can be selected using G418.
Propagation in E. coli
Suitable host strains for propagation in E. coli include DH5alpha, HB101, XL1-Blue, and other general purpose strains. Plasmid incompatibility group is pMB1/ColE1. The vector confers resistance to kanamycin (30μg/ml) to E. coli hosts. Copy number in E. coli is about 500.
