A novel antidiabetic agent. It is found to exert significant cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines. It has a unique property of selectively inducing EGR-1 gene independent of PPARγ. Potential preventive agent for colon carcinogenesis.
